Mauritius Visa Information
Citizens of countries that were full members of the European Union as of the end of 2008 do not need visas to Mauritius. Neither do citizens of the United States of America, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland, or Israel. Nationals of most other countries can obtain a tourist visa upon arrival if they are planning to stay for no more than fifteen days and satisfy a few requirements, such as having a return ticket to their home country, a confirmed accommodation reservation, and evidence that they have at least US$50 for every day of their trip. People from certain countries wishing to stay longer than fifteen days must also apply for a visa before their trip.
If Mauritius ordinarily requires you to have a visa and you have a layover of over 24 hours in the country, you are required to obtain a transit visa before you begin your travels. For stays of fewer than 24 hours, you can obtain the transit visa upon arrival at the airport.
