About Mauritius
Mauritius is an island country with a rich and mixed cultural heritage. Hindus, Muslims, and Christians live side by side here. Most people speak English and French, and many speak Creole as well. If you visit a religious building of any sort, make sure to dress modestly. When entering a Hindu temple, do not wear leather.
There are no vaccinations required for most visitors to Mauritius. However, if you are from a country that is subject to yellow fever outbreaks, you must bring your yellow fever certificate with you to present at the border.
There are both free public and paid private medical services in Mauritius. Safety is not an issue if the traveler follows common-sense precautions.
